Emerging Network Technology Company Elects Dr. Sachio Semmoto to
Advisory Board and Industry Veterans Ben Scott, K-P Wilska to Board of
Directors
Richardson, TX -- Mavenir Systems, an emerging technology company
developing a solution that transcends barriers dividing core networks,
announced today the appointment of Pardeep Kohli, former president and
chief executive officer of Spatial Wireless, as President and CEO.
Company officials also announced industry pioneer Dr. Sachio Semmoto of
eAccess Ltd. and eMobile Ltd. is appointed to its advisory board, and
the election of industry executive veterans Ben Scott, with a strong
mobile operator executive background, and K-P Wilska, with a strong
executive track record at Nokia, to its board of directors. |

A veteran of the wireless
industry, Kohli brings 18 years of experience to Mavenir Systems. Kohli
co-founded Spatial Wireless and served as president and CEO, leading the
company to broad success in the U.S. and its subsequent acquisition by
Alcatel. As senior vice president of Alcatel’s Mobile NGN business,
Kohli expanded the Spatial Wireless product into the global marketplace.
Previously, he served in multiple positions at NEC America, DSC, Alcatel
and PacBell. A frequent industry speaker, Kohli holds several patents on
the design and deployment of advanced telecommunication services.

advisors will benefit from the diverse experiences and vast knowledge of

existing and next-generation assets for a seamless deployment of
multimedia services across mobile and fixed domains,” said Patel. “The
Mavenir solution will offer both consumers and enterprises to control
their services, choosing when, where and on what device they receive
voice, video and communication services with seamless continuity and
optimum network delivery.” Mavenir announced last July it had raised
$13.1 million for global company expansion and its product launch.
New Advisory Board Member Dr. Sachio Semmoto founded eAccess Ltd in 1999
as Japan’s first true entrepreneurial and global IP/telecom start-up.
eAccess provides high-speed broadband telecommunication services using
xDSL technology, which is now a leading broadband IP operator in Japan.
Previously, Dr. Semmoto spent 30 years in senior management positions
with companies that included Nippon Telephone & Telegraph (NTT),
Kyocera, and DDI Corporation (KDDI), which he co-founded. He has taught
at Keio University, Carnegie Mellon University and University of
California at Berkeley, was a Visiting Research Fellow at Stanford
University and has lectured many of the world’s leading academic
institutions and universities. Dr. Semmoto serves on the boards of
Network Appliance Inc. and SmarTone Telecommunications Holdings Ltd. in
Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers, Inc., and a trustee of the Tokyo Foundation and the Japan
Academic Society for Ventures and Entrepreneurs, JASVE.
New Mavenir Board Member Ben Scott joined Austin Ventures in 2002 as a
venture partner after serving as a partner in Quadrant Management, where
he was involved in early-stage investment for the telecom industry. He
is the former chairman and CEO for IXC Communications and former
president and CEO of PrimeCo Personal Communications. Previously, he
held executive positions with Bell Atlantic, AT&T and AT&T Canada.
New Mavenir Board Member K-P Wilska is a venture partner with Austin
Ventures following a 30-plus year career with Nokia. He served as
president of Nokia, Incorporated until his retirement in 2005. He held
numerous marketing and executive positions with Nokia and other
companies, including Vertu Ltd, Nokia Mobile Phones, Nokia Cellular
Systems, Nokia Telecommunications, Kinex Corporation and Mobira Oy.
Wilska also serves on the board of directors for Brightpoint and Agere,
the advisory board for Bitfone and is chairman of the advisory board for
Sipera Systems. He previously served as a board of director for Spectra
Site, Incorporated and Zarlink.
