Electronics Industry Veteran Joins Founder of Oracle Japan as Outside Director

Burlingame, CA & Tokyo, Japan -- Encirq Corporation, the global leader in device data management and the creator of DeviceSQL, today announced that Keisuke Yawata has joined the board of directors of Encirq KK, Encirq¹s wholly-owned Japanese subsidiary. In bringing together the electronics industry expertise of Yawata with the data management know-how of Allen Miner, CEO of Sunbridge Corporation and founder of Oracle Japan, Encirq has assembled an extremely experienced team to oversee the growth of the device data management market in Japan.

Yawata is a pioneer in the global electronics industry. His tenure at NEC Corporation culminated in his position as president and CEO of NEC Electronics, Inc. Through decades of experience working with OEMs in consumer electronics, mobile handset, automotive and telecommunications equipment markets, both in Japan, the US and throughout the world, Yawata brings invaluable expertise and insight to Encirq. He is a natural fit with the rest of the board and will help guide and grow Encirq¹s Japan and global business.

³For many years, customers and colleagues have shared their embedded device software challenges with me,² said Yawata. ³Today companies are hiring more software development staff, increasing their R&D budgets and paying for more powerful hardware to run the exploding amount of device software, but, in the end, these approaches proved insufficient and only lead to dramatically increased cost. Encirq delivers a new paradigm with a unique software technology that solves these critical issues. By enabling customers to optimize their software engineering resources, product hardware resources and device data, Encirq is changing the game for users of DeviceSQL. That¹s why I invested in Encirq and why I committed to joining their Japan board of directors. I look forward to helping the company capitalize on the enormous opportunity it has to help device manufacturers achieve their business and product line goals.²

³I am very pleased Yawata-san has joined the Encirq team,² said Mark Vogel, co-founder and CEO of Encirq. ³He is a proven executive with a track record of driving innovative products to market. That, combined with his leadership in fostering entrepreneurship in Japan, brings a unique perspective to our global management team. His joining our Japan board serves as further validation of the value of device data management for our customers and the industry as a whole.²

After a successful career at NEC, Yawata helped two major American companies enter and succeed in the Japan market. The first was LSI Logic, where as President and CEO of LSI Logic KK, he helped grow their Japan business from inception to approximately $100 million. Later, he went on to successfully lead Applied Materials Japan. In 1997, Yawata founded The Future International, an organization focused on helping Silicon Valley companies enter and grow in the Japan market through alliances with the Japanese electronics industry. Most recently, he co-founded Angelinvestors.org, a non-profit organization that educates and mentors burgeoning entrepreneurs and is a partner and director of Start-up101, a venture capital firm with offices in Silicon Valley and Tokyo.
