LGC Wireless Announces In-Building Mobile WiMAX System

InterReach Fusion® WiMAX Supports MIMO and SISO Implementations Plus GSM, CDMA and WCDMA Frequencies; Existing Fusion Systems Upgradeable

San Jose, CA -- LGC Wireless, the leading supplier of In-Building Wireless solutions and Network Systems to the Fortune 500, today announced InterReach Fusion WiMAX, the industry’s first high performance distributed antenna system (DAS) that supports both MIMO and SISO implementations. Based on LGC’s industry-leading InterReach Fusion product, Fusion WiMAX will enable carriers, enterprises, and government agencies to quickly and cost-effectively deliver ultra high-speed wireless voice, data and video services inside any type of structure.

With transmission frequencies of 2.5 GHz and higher, WiMAX signals attenuate very rapidly, so in-building DAS systems are essential for successful WiMAX deployments. Fusion WiMAX provides the same clear, strong, and consistent performance that Fusion cellular systems deliver to customers around the world. Fusion WiMAX supports other cellular frequencies as well, so mobile operators can use one system to support WiMAX as well as GSM, CDMA and WCDMA services.

The Fusion WiMAX system supports both MIMO and SISO antenna configurations. In addition, existing InterReach Fusion systems can easily be upgraded to support WiMax services. The first release of Fusion WiMAX (scheduled for fourth quarter of 2007) will support 2.5GHz WiMAX frequencies; a 3.5 GHZ version is scheduled for release in
2008.

“With the ability to deliver 100 megabits of bandwidth or more, WiMAX will rapidly gain adoption among carriers, public agencies, and enterprises,” said Ian Sugarbroad, president and CEO of LGC Wireless. “LGC Wireless is leading the industry by providing a best-in-class, high-performance DAS solution that ensures indoor coverage for WiMAX users.”
