High-Capacity Backhaul Solution Accelerates Rollout of 'Quad Play'
Voice, Data, Video & WiFi Services while Achieving ROI in Less Than One
Year
Santa Clara, CA -- BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of
gigabit wireless solutions, has announced that MSTI Holdings, Inc.
(OTCBB: MSHI) or "MST," a high-growth next generation service provider
based in Hawthorne, N.J., has deployed seven BridgeWave 80 GHz gigabit
wireless links as part of an accelerated network expansion in the New
York metropolitan and northern New Jersey areas. BridgeWave's ultra
high-capacity wireless links fuel the rapid rollout of MST's "quad play"
voice, data, WiFi and IP video services to residential, hospitality and
commercial properties in New York and New Jersey under its NuVisionsT
brand. Additionally, BridgeWave's GigE wireless bridges have enabled MST
to offer higher data rates and a wider range of services than incumbent
providers, with a ROI of less than a year as compared to the leasing of
fiber circuits. |

MST has
secured access agreements with high-profile property owners and
world-class real estate developers, including The Trump Organization,
Zeckendorf Development, Equity Residential and The LeFrak Organization.
The company serves more than 5,000 customers in New York City, including
Roosevelt Island, as well as neighboring areas in New Jersey and has
plans for further expansion into Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut
and other markets nationwide. Time-to-market and reduced network
operating costs are critical factors in expediting these service
rollouts while also retaining a competitive edge over incumbent
telecommunications service providers and cable operators.
MST focused on 80 GHz gigabit wireless as a way to avoid excessive time
delays and high costs of using leased fiber-optic services to backhaul
traffic for its NuVisions broadband metropolitan network. In addition to
obtaining the highest wireless bandwidth capacity available, MST sought
"five nines" network availability, consistent user quality of service (QoS)
and immunity to interference from other nearby wireless deployments.
After a side-by-side test of products from BridgeWave Communications and
a competitor, MST determined BridgeWave's AR80 and AR80X products were
superior, due to "plug and play" installation, unsurpassed stability and
innovative features designed to optimize network service availability.
"BridgeWave's
best-of-class gigabit wireless links enable us to create a 'virtual
fiber' network in the sky, for a mere fraction of the billions of
dollars of fiber-optic assets in the ground," says Frank T. Matarazzo,
CEO of Microwave Satellite Technologies Inc. "With BridgeWave's wireless
GigE radios in place, MST now has the right backbone elements to deliver
innovative, differentiated services cost effectively to tens of
thousands of customers-years ahead of our competitors."
MST leverages BridgeWave's gigabit links to connect its customer sites
across Manhattan and surrounding areas to its core network, while still
delivering sufficient capacity to deploy WiFi access throughout the
region. MST benefits from BridgeWave's exclusive AdaptRateT technology,
which provides maximum availability at all link distances by dynamically
switching between GigE and 100 Mbps data rates to maintain carrier-class
service availability for its subscriber base. Additionally, BridgeWave's
inclusion of a secondary "add/drop" Ethernet port allows MST to
provision 100 Mbps subscriber site service drops without the need for
additional Ethernet switches and cabling.
"BridgeWave's highly reliable, robust gigabit wireless links offer
network operators a field-proven, highly economical alternative to
fiber-optic leased services," explains Gregg Levin, chief marketing
officer for BridgeWave Communications. "Our extremely narrow antenna
beamwidth supports dense urban 'hub and spoke' deployments. Combined
with the use of licensed-band spectrum, operators benefit from
interference immunity and inherently secure data transmission."
MST is poised to deploy another round of service offerings over its
gigabit wireless backbone, including energy management, NuConcierge
amenity portals for hospitality properties, and surveillance and
building-wide intercom services for residential properties, as well as
web hosting, offsite data storage and video conferencing for local
businesses. MST also plans to replicate its "Manhattan model" in other
locales in New Jersey and San Francisco. Initially, MST projected a ROI
on its BridgeWave links of less than one year, but now expects an
accelerated payback as its portfolio of services grows.
