First worldwide WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory equipped with MINT T2110 RCT and MINT T223x PCT systems

Burnham, England -- Aeroflex and AT4 wireless have announced that the WiMAX Forum® has designated the Aeroflex/AT4 wireless MINT223x protocol conformance test (PCT) system and AT4 wireless MINT T2110 radio conformance test (RCT) system as official* test equipment for WiMAX Certification (802.16-2005). Both systems have been installed and are being actively used for WiMAX equipment certification at the first worldwide WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory, which has been established on behalf of the WiMAX Forum within AT4 wireless’ comprehensive Wireless Certification & Testing Laboratory in Malaga, Spain.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to count on the WiMAX conformance test capabilities of the AT4 wireless RCT and Aeroflex/AT4 wireless PCT systems in the WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory,” said Jose de la Plaza, who is responsible for the operation of the WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory. “In order to quickly make the WiMAX Certification process a reality we need to be able to draw on the extensive expertise, technical innovation and understanding of WiMAX technology of leading test equipment developers like Aeroflex and AT4 wireless.”

“The designation of our conformance test systems by the WiMAX Forum as official test equipment for WiMAX Certification is testament to our market leadership in WiMAX test,” added Paul Argent, director of Infrastructure Products at Aeroflex Test Solutions, Wireless Division. “The early availability of quality WiMAX test equipment is crucial to the ongoing development of the WiMAX market both in terms of infrastructure and subscriber equipment and we are leading its delivery.”

The WiMAX Forum® is an industry-led, not-for-profit organization with more than 520 member companies formed to certify and promote the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products based upon the harmonized IEEE 802.16/ETSI HiperMAN standard. The WiMAX Forum Certification Working Group, of which Aeroflex is a member, evaluates testing options, makes recommendations for test lab selections and manages test lab relationships while working closely with the WiMAX Forum Technical Working Group.
