WiMAX RUS Acceptance

Wheatland Electric Cooperative Upgrades Microwave Backbone Network with Exalt

PureWave Announces RUS Acceptance for its PureWave Quantum Base Stations
Quantum 6600 also receives IC certification and becomes commercially available in Canada

Mountain View, CA, - PureWave Networks, the developer of high performance, compact, all-outdoor Mobile WiMAX (802.16e) base stations announced today that its PureWave Quantum base stations have been accepted by the Rural Utility Service (RUS).

"PureWave Quantum base stations are the ideal solution for rural operators seeking to deliver broadband services to their communities", said Ronen Vengosh, PureWave's VP of Business Development, "and our new RUS acceptance means that operators can now finance their mobile WiMAX deployment using RUS loans and grants."

In addition to the new RUS acceptance, the company also announced today that its PureWave Quantum 6600 base station has received Industry Canada (IC) certification, making it commercially available in Canada as well.

PureWave Quantum base stations are uniquely suited to rural deployments, where operators need to serve the needs of sparsely populated communities and still secure a return on their investment. PureWave's innovative compact six-antenna system allows operators to serve customers located up to 15 miles or more from the base station, while using industry standard mobile WiMAX subscriber devices.

The base stations are designed to be deployed completely outdoors with no need for shelter or climate controlled cabinets, making deployment simple and affordable. Moreover, operators can choose to deploy with or without an ASN Gateway, thereby greatly reducing the initial cost of deployment.

PureWave Quantum base stations operate with standard, off-the-shelf mobile WiMAX CPE, finally releasing even smaller operators from the tyranny of expensive single vendor proprietary subscriber devices.

About PureWave Quantum Mobile WiMAX Solutions PureWave Quantum base stations are made in the USA and are RUS accepted. Highlights of the PureWave Quantum family of outdoor Mobile WiMAX base stations include:

The cost, size and performance combination makes the base stations attractive to any type of operator, from large mobile cellular service providers to small WISPs.
A patent pending, fully integrated, single box design that can be deployed completely outdoors, with no need for shelter or air-conditioning.
Fully open architecture, allows customers to assemble a "best of breed" solution and to select other components from the broad WiMAX ecosystem.
The PureMax™ Smart Antenna technology significantly increases base station range and capacity.
The high performance base stations require as little as 65 Watts in power consumption, significantly lowering their operating costs and carbon footprint.
