Glenayre Messaging technology enables simultaneous high-bandwidth applications anytime, anywhere

Tokyo, Japan -- Glenayre Messaging, a global leader in providing next-generation messaging solutions, announced today that the Versera Intelligent Communications Environment (Versera ICET), the innovative messaging technology at the heart of Glenayre's product offerings, has participated in a ground-breaking demonstration of simultaneous broadband voice, video and data services across multiple wireless access technologies in Tokyo, Japan.

The demonstration involved the Nortel Multimedia Communication Server 5200, which delivers anywhere, anytime SIP-based multimedia and collaborative applications to end-users.

The demonstration showcased the powerful potential of wireless operators to provide uninterrupted communications to subscribers using one device as they roam among 3G UMTS, WiMAX and WLAN networks accessing services such as surveillance cameras and multimedia content portals provided by Versera ICE applications.

"Triple play is happening now, it is not exclusively for the future, and we were delighted to be able to work with Nortel to demonstrate it in Tokyo, where users insist on world-scale leading-edge solutions," said Nigel Waller, Vice President of International Sales for Glenayre Messaging.

Waller continued, "Versera ICE is creating enormous demand from our customers across the world as they look to boost their ARPU (Average Revenue per User) statistics, and we see this trial as further evidence that it should be the system of choice for operators who are serious about generating new revenues from their 3G licences and exciting their customers in the process."

The tests demonstrated a suite of next-generation applications running across an HSDPA 3G cellular network, WiMAX (802.16e) and WLAN networks in Tokyo, Japan.

As one of the industry's only true next-generation messaging solutions, Versera ICE enables the deployment of next generation applications on a single, open platform while providing carrier-grade quality for both circuit-switched and IP networks. Through its compatibility with IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Versera ICE is the future-proofed application environment for mobile operators.
