WiMAX Telecom consolidates leadership in wireless broadband access in Croatia

WiMAX Telecom Group
April 19, 2006

Zurich -- WiMAX Telecom Group, the world's only multinational provider of WiMax* services, is expanding its position in Croatia. With the award of licences for the Zagreb rural region, it now holds four of only five licences for wireless broadband access and is at the same time consolidating its leading position.

With the award of the 3.5 GHz WiMax radio licence for the Zagreb rural region, WiMAX Telecom Group has taken another important step forward and is expanding its leading position in Croatia as well as the rest of Europe. Given its population density and topography, the region is considered a first-rate transmission area. It has considerable market potential and is a perfect fit for the company's tried and proven strategy of building up the first independent, cross-border WiMax network in Europe.

All of Europe in its sights
With branches in Switzerland, Austria, Slovakia and Croatia, WiMAX Telecom is the world's only independent, multinational provider of WiMax services. It holds national licences in both Austria and Slovakia, where its active networks already serve several thousand customers, and is working on obtaining licences in Germany and other countries.

*Offering a range of up to 15 kilometres and transmission rates of up to 70 Mbps, the new WiMAX radio technology is considered to be the future standard for wireless and broadband Internet access and voice telephony.
