Software Combines Element Management With Bandwidth and Authentication Tools

Schaumburg, IL -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) has introduced Prizm 2.0, a network management software platform that helps operators reduce the operating and capital costs of running a Canopy(R) wireless network while enabling tiered service offerings that can create new revenue streams.

Canopy wireless networks are part of Motorola's MOTOwi4 portfolio of wireless broadband solutions and services that create, complement and complete IP networks. MOTOwi4 includes Canopy fixed broadband, Mesh, Broadband over Powerline, and WiMAX solutions for private and public networks. Prizm 2.0 is the optimal management platform for Canopy wireless broadband networks, providing full element management capability, including bandwidth and authentication management, integrated into a single platform. The Prizm software platform includes a solid migration path to support the entire MOTOwi4 portfolio.

"Prizm 2.0 helps operators of both large and small Canopy networks by providing full element management capabilities specifically designed to lower costs and increase the value of their Motorola Canopy network," said Tom Hulsebosch, senior director of sales and marketing for Motorola's Canopy Wireless Broadband Group. "For example, Prizm 2.0 can be used to preserve bandwidth to deliver premium services to customers with the introduction of integrated bandwidth and authentication management."

Prizm 2.0 can reduce network management expenses by enabling network operators to manage software features through the deployment of floating software licenses. These licenses offer network operators the flexibility to migrate services throughout the network and deploy higher throughput services based on customer demand. This pay-as-you-grow business model creates an opportunity for service providers to compete at low price entry levels by offering 512Kbps Canopy Lite Subscriber Modules that can be upgraded with license keys through Prizm 2.0 to 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps, 4 Mbps and 7 Mbps. Prizm 2.0 is available now, and availability of the Canopy Lite upgrade license keys is expected in the third quarter.

Network management automation can also reduce operational expenses of on-going network operations. As such, Prizm 2.0 addresses many other network operator-oriented needs including network failure notification, user authentication, centralized and automated network configuration, bandwidth management and network access privileges. Prizm 2.0 software was designed to integrate smoothly into an operator's existing Operations Support Systems. The Prizm 2.0 software was designed to quickly and smoothly integrate into existing network management environments and supports multiple industry standard interfaces, including XML and SNMP. Prizm 2.0 can be deployed within any Canopy network, including point-to-point and point-to-multipoint deployments, regardless of frequency. Motorola's Canopy platform is a robust, high-speed wireless broadband solution for cost-effective connectivity for private networks, such as governments or enterprises and for Internet service providers and carriers. Its superior performance promises one of the lowest total costs of ownership and is designed to significantly reduce a provider's start-up, maintenance and leased-line costs. Further information on Prizm 2.0 and a 30-day no obligation trial is available at: http://motorola.canopywireless.com/products/prizm/ .
