Near Line of Sight (NLOS) Solutions

The company manufactures highly available, highly reliable wireless Ethernet bridges that provide point-to-point broadband connections in environments where conventional solutions can’t operate. Its leading-edge technology enables powerful non-line-of-sight (NLOS) connections, around obstacles and terrain, as well as long-range line-of-site (LOS) connections, with carrier-class reliability.

Even in connection-friendly environments, Orthogon offers superior performance whenever transient fading and dispersion occur—as they inevitably will in all wireless connections. For the many applications where no optical line-of-sight path exists between connection points, Orthogon may be the only viable solution.

Line-of-Site (LoS) and Non-Line-of-Site (NLoS) Products

OS-Gemini Family
OS-Gemini solutions achieve high-quality, reliable Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) and long-range Line-of-Site connectivity where other wireless solutions cannot. In fact, the OS-Gemini broadband wireless, point-to-point 5.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz Ethernet bridges offer the first true non-line-of-sight wireless radios that deliver carrier-grade service (99.999% availability).

The OS-Gemini family of products includes:

  • OS-Gemini Integrated – 44 Mbps solutions with built-in antennas

  • OS-Gemini Connectorized – 44 Mbps solutions with the high-gain advantage of external antennas

  • OS-Gemini Lite Integrated and Connectorized – 22 Mbps solutions for budget-constrained organizations that need robust solutions to overcome interference and navigate obstructions

All OS-Gemini products include Orthogon Systems’ unique combination of technologies designed to protect against fading and radically increase performance, including:

  • Best-in-Class Radios

  • ulti-Beam Space-Time Coding

  • Intelligent Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing

  • Advanced Spectrum Management with Intelligent Dynamic Frequency Selection

  • Adaptive Modulation

  • Spatial Diversity

Choose OS-Gemini when you need connectivity for challenging near- and Non-line-of-sight environments, including deep NLoS deployments and those that span long distances and travel over water. Even in obstructed and high-interference locations, OS-Gemini succeeds more than 99% of the time.

The OS-Spectra broadband wireless
point-to-point 5.8 GHz Ethernet bridges provide more range and capacity in near- and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) environments, delivering carrier-grade service (99.999% availability).

Orthogon Systems is the only manufacturer of broadband wireless systems to combine Multi-Beam Space-Time Coding and Intelligent Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing with advanced signal-processing algorithms, allowing OS-Spectra to create four simultaneous signals between pairs of transceivers at each end of the link – without losing spectrum efficiency. This technique increases signal integrity by an unprecedented 300 times.

With aggregate throughput up to 300 Mbps on a 30 MHz channel, OS-Spectra delivers 300% greater spectral efficiency than our nearest competitor. OS-Spectra is particularly well-suited for applications and networks that require high throughput and T1/E1 capability because OS-Spectra builds in extra features that promote greater speed and mitigate RF interference. Its T1/E1 ports mean that you can bundle circuit-switched connectivity with IP voice, video and data communications.

The OS-Spectra family provides specific solutions designed to handle a wide variety of applications and environmental requirements:

  • OS-Spectra Integrated – with data rates up to 300 Mbps and a built-in antenna

  • OS-Spectra Connectorized – with data rates up to 300 Mbps and the high-gain advantage of external antennas

  • OS-Spectra Lite (Integrated and Connectorized) – with data rates up to 150 Mbps

OS-MUX Family
The OS-MUX converts the data stream from its user E1/T1 ports into packets for transmission over the OS-Gemini wireless Ethernet bridge. These packets are output to the OS-Gemini via the Ethernet port. At the far end of the radio link, a remote O-MUX converts the packets back to TDM traffic. Any additional capacity from the OS-Gemini link is presented to the user at the two user Ethernet ports on the OS-MUX High performance buffering and forwarding techniques minimize end-to-end processing delay.

Key product features include:

  • TDM leased-line extension over wireless Ethernet bridges

  • Support for both framed and unframed T1/E1

  • Two or four T1/E1 ports

  • One radio and two user Ethernet switch ports

  • Dedicated external clock port

  • Direct powering from OS-Gemini PIDU Plus

  • QoS support by VLAN tagging/priority labeling to IEEE 802.1p

  • Dynamically controlled fractional T1/E1 transport, allowing best use of wireless bandwidth when a limited number of timeslots have to be transferred

  • Management via web browser or SNMP-based NMS

  • Compact 1U-high enclosure

The new OS-MUX is ideal for campus network applications, inter-building PBX and LAN extensions, wireless ISP backhaul, MSO voice and data services, and telco trunking. For a cost that is much lower than leasing E1/T1 lines, the OS-MUX provides an easy-to-implement, carrier-class solution for extending voice or voice-and-data networks.
