3-Day WiMAX Network DesignerTM Certification Boot Camp |
|
 |
WiMAX Professional
Certification proves that you have the skills to design, install,
or operate WiMAX networks. Move your career ahead by
distinguishing yourself in the wireless industry with a WiMAX
professional certification. |
|
Course
Description:
This course is a three-day Boot Camp event, which covers all of
the necessary topics to prepare an experienced RF Engineer to
complete a simple WiMAX implementation, and to take the WiMAX
Network Designer™ certification exam.
Who Should Attend:
This course is targeted at RF Engineers who are planning a WiMAX
deployment, and who need the skills to design a network, balancing
the requirements of service quality (including throughput and
performance) with minimum capital and operations cost.
Pre-Requisite Knowledge:
RF Engineering Expertise. For specific pre-requisites and a
self-test, see www.wimax.com/training/3dayprepreq.html
Course length:
3 days

Boot Camp Outcomes:
At the end of the course, an experienced RF engineer will be able
to: |
- Follow the three-phase design
process to design a simple, multi-site, multi-sector fixed WiMAX
network
- List the considerations that
change in a Mobile WiMAX system design
- Incorporate into the design
the WiMAX-specific considerations, such as PUSC gain, advanced
antenna systems, adaptive modulation and coding, adaptive
per-frame uplink/downlink boundary, and quality of service
- List the common frequency
reuse plans recommended by sample vendors, and proposed for
mobile WiMAX
- Determine site selection
criteria
- Determine cell density
required for a desired level of service, performance and
coverage
- Compare and balance uplink and
downlink performance
- Employ a modeling tool to
prepare an RF design for your network
- Model the effect of frequency,
power, terrain, clutter and CPE location on coverage
- Determine service level for
business subscribers
- Anticipate throughput for
residential subscribers
- Use a capacity planning tool
to estimate equipment requirements
- Select optimum cell sites
based on coverage, demographics, local issues, and cost issues
- Determine priorities for
optimum design: throughput, coverage, operating cost, etc.
Boot Camp practical experience
and certification testing
The boot camp is structured as 50% tutorial content, and 50%
handson exercises, illustrated with case studies. Through a
special arrangement with EDX Wireless, a demonstration copy of the
EDX SignalPro® software tool, including the Network Design Module,
is provided to each student, and used for in-class exercises.
You’ll have the experience of designing the RF network for a
sample WiMAX-served community. Four spreadsheet tools are provided
to enhance hands-on experience. Bring your laptop, or arrange in
advance for DoceoTech to provide one for you.
At the end of the three-day boot camp, students will have the
opportunity to complete the proctored WiMAX Network Designer™
certification exam. Students who pass the exam will be sent their
certificates after the class. |
