WiMAX Certification Program

Test Labs

A top priority of the CWG this year is ensuring that the WiMAX Forum Certification program is ready for launch by the end of this year, when vendor equipment is expected to be available. A major milestone is the selection of WiMAX Forum Certification Labs, which began more than eight months ago and is scheduled to be completed early summer 2004.

TSS&TP

One milestone CWG has already accomplished is selection of a vendor to work with the Forum to develop the Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) document. Contract negotiations with the vendor are currently ongoing to close the agreement and start working on the TSS&TP.

Test Equipment

To enable MAC and PHY conformance testing, CWG issued RFPs to a number of test equipment vendors requesting proposals for developing a protocol analyzer. The basic Phase 1 protocol analyzer is expected to be available by the end of this year and will have limited functionality but enable WiMAX Forum Certification testing to commence. The plan is that in phase two and phase three, the functionality of the protocol analyzer will be enhanced to become instrument grade, off-the-shelf test equipment.
