Dallas, TX -- ADAPTIX, a pioneering developer of OFDMA-based mobile
wireless systems, will use WiMAX radio frequency (RF) transceivers from
Maxim Integrated Products to power the RF capabilities of the ADAPTIX SX-series
mobile WiMAX terminals. The SX family of mobile terminals is designed to
support mass market deployment of mobile WiMAX by carriers and
operators.
"With the new Maxim RF chipset, the ADAPTIX SX-series mobile WiMAX
terminals will offer carriers a high-performance, cost-effective means
of deploying mobile WiMAX," said ADAPTIX Vice President of Marketing and
Product Management Byron Young. "We've chosen to work with Maxim's
technology due to its excellent RF performance in fixed and mobile
applications." |

With its third-generation
SX series of CPEs, ADAPTIX serves carriers and operators looking to
offer Mobile WiMAX 802.16e service, which is designed to provide
customers with access to wireless broadband coverage and a host of
applications, including voice over IP (VoIP) over WiMAX and mobile IPTV.
ADAPTIX's SX-300, which is smaller and lighter than a typical travel
hard drive, supports full 802.16e functionality, provides approximately
four Mbps of aggregate airlink performance and is available in either
2.3 or 2.5 GHz profiles. The ADAPTIX SX-500 mobile terminal incorporates
a high-performance OFDMA engine with standards-compliant 802.16e-2005
software. The SX-500 mobile terminal is ADAPTIX's performance leader and
can be used in fixed, portable or vehicular applications. With options
for MIMO and SmartAntenna upgrades, the SX-500 is designed with business
wireless broadband applications in mind.
"We're excited that ADAPTIX has selected Maxim as a key component
supplier for its new high-performance SX-series mobile terminals. Our
two and three GHz high-performance, low-power 802.16e single-chip RF
transceiver products are a great fit for ADAPTIX's new mobile
terminals," said Dr. Saeed Navid, Maxim's wireless communications BU
vice president. "ADAPTIX is clearly one of the leading players making
mobile WiMAX a reality, and Maxim is proud to support ADAPTIX in its
efforts."
