Ubiquiti Networks XR3 -- Exceeds the Performance of Available WiMAX Offerings

Other topics: Wireless Broadband Project, WiMAX Presence

Ubiquiti Networks
August 13, 2007

San Jose, CA -- Ubiquiti Networks, a leading innovator in outdoor wireless broadband solutions, today announced the general availability of the XtremegeRange3 -- the world's first 3GHz 802.11 Atheros based mini-PCI radio module incorporating Ubiquiti's patent-pending Frequency Freedom Technology. The XR3 is available in three different models with frequency operation spanning 2.7GHz to 3.7GHz. The XR3 was specifically designed for long-distance, outdoor broadband wireless applications and features high output power (400mW), extended temperature operation, and an innovative receiver design, which provides excellent noise immunity and sensitivity performance.

The XR3 is fully compatible with the publicly available Atheros Linux MADWIFI driver and can instantly transform existing 802.11 based products into market-ready 3GHz solutions by simply changing out the mini-PCI radio. The XR3 leverages a variety of advanced features including scalable channel bandwidths of 5/10/20/40 MHz, compression, and 256-bit AES security. It is also a viable Wi-Max replacement solution for OEMs and carriers as it is based on field proven reliable hardware and software solutions from Atheros Communications tested to link beyond distances of 50km and achieve TCP/IP data rates greater than 60Mbps.

"We believe XR3 based solutions will introduce a new wave of cost-effective, high-performance, flexible 3GHz products for the carrier market. The radio performance of the XR3 has been shown to exceed the performance of available WiMAX offerings in terms of range and throughput. In addition, it is based on a hardware and software foundation (from Atheros Communications) that has been proven in the field for many years in the outdoor PtP and PtmP markets. It provides a practical and high-performance path for OEM's and carries, to quickly and efficiently realize scalable, powerful 3GHz networks," said Robert J. Pera, President of Ubiquiti Networks.

About Ubiquiti Networks:
