Mformation® Technologies Inc.
October 20, 2009

Relationship lowers costs for device vendors and ensures WiMAX devices can be remotely managed, activated and supported ’out of the box’

Edison, NJ -- Mformation® Technologies Inc., the leading provider of advanced mobile device management (MDM) solutions, today announced an interoperability partnership with Sequans Communications, an industry leader in WiMAX semiconductor products. Sequans offers wireless equipment manufacturers a chipset solution for virtually every WiMAX application, including all types of mobile devices and the smallest of mobile phones. Mformation’s OMA DM server provides WiMAX service activation, remote configuration and ongoing life-cycle support for WiMAX-capable devices. Sequans has integrated an OMA DM client directly into its chip software and has joined the Mformation WiMAX Self-Certification Program whereby it has passed an extensive range of tests certifying compliance with OMA DM and WiMAX Forum™ specifications.

"Successfully building the WiMAX service ecosystem requires that devices and services work out of the box,” said Craig Miller, VP of marketing, Sequans. "Working with Mformation, the leader in device management, allows us to enable our customers to confidently and affordably produce devices that are compliant with industry standards and will work for virtually any WiMAX service provider."

There are multiple benefits to Mformation’s self-certification program. OEMs who use the Sequans chipset, which features pre-integrated OMA DM client software, can cost-effectively create and certify WiMAX devices using pre-tested and OMA DM compliant technology, allowing them to be seamlessly managed by advanced device management platforms such as MFORMATION SERVICE MANAGER™.

WiMAX will deliver a significant boost to the mobile Internet, allowing users to access advanced data applications and personal content from anywhere in the WiMAX coverage area, on any WiMAX-enabled device, at true broadband speeds. Mformation has built up significant experience supporting devices over all-IP 4G technologies with unparalleled device support. Mformation’s lead mobile WiMAX customers include Clearwire, Sprint and UQ Communications (KDDI and Intel joint venture). Mformation supports more than 2,500 different devices across any mobile network type. Mformation’s integrated MDM platform is continually evolving to support new next-generation networks, devices and value-added services. Mformation’s extensive experience with the OMA DM protocol and demonstrated leadership in managing OMA DM devices are especially critical to the seamless management of WiMAX-based devices. With Mformation, the mobile devices in the subscribers’ hands are always configured and working optimally.

Mark Edwards, Mformation’s CEO, comments: “The WiMAX ecosystem is building. Working with leading chipset players like Sequans is an important step toward ensuring that more of the device makes and models entering the market can be supported on WiMAX networks automatically.”
