Seymour will focus on Alcatel's strategy for WIMAX end-user devices, as
described in an announcement that the company is expanding the number of
partners in the WiMAX eco-system. Furthering its early commitment to
universal WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e-2005), Alcatel adopted an Open CPE
(Customer Premises Equipment) Policy in order to give its customers the
optimum choice of terminal devices in terms of time-to-market, price and
features – pledging to assure interoperability with the largest number
of third-party suppliers possible.
Alcatel is already involved in WiMAX trials with service providers on
every continent. Alcatel is also participating in the WiMAX Forum™
Plugfests which provide vendors with the opportunity to inter-work their
respective products and equipment and improve testing scenarios and
capabilities in a technology standard. Alcatel was present at the Mobile
Public Plugfest held at Bechtel Labs in Frederick, MD from Sept. 24
until Oct. 1. Results described at WCA’s Carrier & Enterprise Leadership
Briefing last week in Reston, VA in conjunction with WCA’s fall meeting
of the association’s Board of Directors.
CelPlan’s president also brings diverse experiences in designing and
implementing next generation networks. CelPlan is a member of the WiMAX
forum and a leading provider of planning and optimization software for
the wireless industry. The company offers the complete cycle in planning
OFDM-based networks, including planning, testing and optimization of
WiMAX networks. Its president also is co-author of Designing
cdma2000®Systems, a 918-page book that covers the main standards
involved in the technology specification whilst focusing on those
aspects required for the design of CDMA systems, with the majority of
concepts equally applicable to the UMTS technology. Its president is
also a leader in designing networks for enterprise users in the U.S. and
internationally, such as large scale outdoor video surveillance networks
like the one nearing completion in Long Beach, CA using spectrum in the
4.9 GHz band.
